Woods

Short Film (2017) directed by Sean Van Leijenhorst, inspired by the works of Hitchcock and Stephen King.

A dark descent into the rage and paranoia of a writer caught in a creative collapse. His mind, consumed by neurosis, retreats into a desolate forest in search of inspiration for his next book. But as seemingly unexplainable events unfold, his already fragile psyche begins to unravel, haunted by paranoid visions.

With a chilling twist, this short film prompts reflection on how the mind processes external stimuli in ways that can defy logic—sometimes even leading to complete madness.

It’s a meditation on how help, when imposed rather than sought, can have unforeseen consequences. It can deepen existing distress and give rise to monsters—creatures of the mind that may have never truly existed.

A near-perverse interplay where good loses to evil, challenging the boundaries of personal space—both mental and physical. It serves as a powerful reminder of the devastating impact forced assistance can have when it crosses the line of genuine support.
