Do you remember when, as kids, we were told never to accept candy from strangers? Or that famous line from Collodi’s Pinocchio: “…never trust anyone who seems too nice…”?

Well, keep that in mind while watching this short film.

The story is as simple as it is timely, tapping into the fears of those of us who travel alone—whether for work or pleasure. It blends a tale as old as time with classic (and slightly old-school) horror movie clichés.

A young man books an Airbnb, only to find out upon arrival that he’s actually rented a tiny room in the apartment of a seemingly sweet older woman. But her eyes don’t lie—they hide a dark secret and an even darker plan.

Released in 2022 and directed by Sam Kassover, this is a solid short film best watched late at night, with the lights off… and ideally, alone. You won’t be disappointed.
